Sock Bun

So here I thought I had posted about the sock bun months ago & I guess I didn't, oops. well here is a quick breakdown of my favorite quick, easy & sophisticated up do.

NAKED by UD

I'm always looking for a new light foundation,  UD recently came out with their NAKED foundation, and i have to say I'm in love with it,  its easy to blend, lightweight and gives you full coverage.

I don't like the feeling of having makeup caked on,  I always feel like I'm going to melt, so this foundation is perfect.  It looks natural and gives your skin a natural beautiful glow while covering all the imperfections you may have.  The price is not bad either, $38 for a 1oz bottle, totally worth it,  you need about 1 pump to cover your face.

Buy at:
UrbanDecay.com
Sephora.com
 or a sephora store.

Mariah Carey & OPI

The OPI Mariah Carey Collection for Spring 2013(limited edition) will be available in January, both collections are inspired & hand-picked by the one and only Mariah Carey, they are sparkly, feminine & bold. ( I mean what else would you expect from Mariah Carey)  my favorite ones that I cant wait to get my hands on are the shades which are  formulated with a new OPI Liquid Sand technology, they give you a unique, matte texture with reflective sparkle that really looks and feels like fine sand!
Here is the collection:

  • A Butterfly Moment: A shimmery, nude pink; I really love this shade and I think it’s quite unique! I think I’ll be wearing this cute, feminine shade a lot this spring.
  • Sprung: A warm, shimmery copper. This one was the least pigmented out of them all, but the final result is quite nice!
  • Anti-Bleak: A deep, creamy purple; the only cream polish in the collection! Pretty- but not too unique.
  • Pink Yet Lavender: A clear base with pink glitter and lavender shimmer; very pale, and looks stunning on top of a deeper color.

  • Stay The Night: A matte black Liquid Sand base with red glitter; deep and vampy!
  • Get Your Number: A matte blue Liquid Sand base with multi-color sparkle; I don’t know what it is about this one but I love it! It reminds me of icicles!
  • Can’t Let Go: A matte purple Liquid Sand base with multi-color sparkle; another really beautiful shade. I found the texture to be a little more flat than the others.
  • The Impossible: A matte fuchsia Liquid Sand base with multi-dimensional sparkle and star confetti; I have to admit, I thought this one was going to look awful- but I quite like it! It’s fun and playful with the star confetti.

Traveling tip: traveling with makeup

Holidays for most of us means traveling, whether its by plane or car. My least favorite thing about traveling…PACKING!

Its such a hassle, I tend to over pack every time, and my old saving space trick was putting my makeup in zip lock bags. It saved space BUT also created a mess, my liquid foundation or primer would magically open and make a mess everywhere! And that’s the last thing anyone wants when they are traveling, to clean up a mess that could have been avoided. Well I came across this really helpful tip that will still save space and protect your makeup from spilling everywhere, use a Chinese take out container! Who would’ve thought, well these little containers lock tight, and prevent those awful spills, and also making it easy to store once you’ve arrived to your destination. I will be using about 3-4 containers.

XOXO

Modern Family & Nicole by OPI

Modern Family is not only one of the funniest shows on television, it features a great ensemble cast of rich characters that inspired a range of shades, from pastel hues like sea foam green and periwinkle to brighter colors of cobalt and red-violet,” remarks Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, Nicole by OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “From studious Alex to bombshell Gloria, to classic (and neurotic) Claire, to flirty Haley, there are shades to represent each of these uniquely fabulous women – and everyone else in the blended family.

“The Nicole consumer embraces the same spirit of diversity and individuality that’s apparent on the show,” explains Weiss-Fischmann. “The colors inspired by Modern Family offer a perfect way to express that spirit!”

                        The Modern Family Collection includes:

the lacquers will be available beginning January 2013 for $7.99 each at retailers including select Walmart, Target, CVS, Rite Aid.

Coconut oil face scrub..

I have recently started breaking out, and my face wash wasn’t exactly helping, so I decide to Try something different, I have been using coconut oil & baking soda 3 times a week, and it’s working!, I was a bit skeptical since my skin can get really oily, but after doing a little research and trying it out, it doesn’t make my skin disgusting oily, see oil actually dissolves oil, and your skin needs natural oils.

Its good to detox your skin, from all the pollutants in the air, facial washes, moisturizers, ect. And by using natural ingredients you are allowing your skin to be clean, and to breathe, and to be able to do its job. Baking soda is a soft natural abrasive that gently exfoliate your skin while absorbing excess oil and contaminants that are hidden in your skin, while coconut oil is a very light, anti-microbial oil loaded with vitamin E and omega 3's which your skin will absorb well and will allow your pores to breathe. Making it a perfect combination for your skin.

What you need:
¼ teaspoon Baking Soda
½ tablespoon Coconut oil
Warm Water
cloth

Directions:

Put a warm towel over your face to open up your pores, Mix the teaspoon and coconut oil, as you rub the oil in your hands it will become liquid and rub gently all over your face
(If you scrub hard, your skin will over-produce more oils almost immediately.) let it sit for a few minutes then rinse with warm water.
Your skin will feel sooo soft

Tips: how to save your broken eyeshadow

This is by far one of the BEST tips ever…

Have you ever dropped a blush, eyeshadow or powder compact?, total mess right?
Well now instead of carrying in a ziplock bag or throwing it away, you can save it.
All you need is rubbing alcohol… amazing right!!

You Need:
Rubbing alcohol
Spoon
Medicine Dropper

1. with the dropper add a few drops of the rubbing alcohol to the powder & let it soak in.

2. Press the powder with the back of a spoon.

3. Let it dry out for a day or two

& that’s it!!, 3 simple steps to get it back to normal & mess free, don’t worry it is safe for your eyes, the alcohol evaporates with in 1-2 days.

Love: tweezers

AH! I think I just fell in love, so I’m all about investing in good tools, and good tweezers are a MUST!,
Tweezerman is my favorite brand, they are ah-mazing!!,
I’m still mad I had to throw away my pink ones, then again it
Is my fault since they are a consider a weapon when you board a plane, haha.
So now I have some cute blue & white polka dotted tweezers.
Well to replace my pretty pink ones,
I have found some adorable red glittery ones at sephora.com (for only $30), this adorable set comes with the slant & point tweeezers,
Perfect to help you clean up and keep your eyebrows well shaped, & come in a cute travel case (which I will not be taking on a plane, lol)
